No matter how you arrived, I’m happy to have you here.

My name is Alex. If you couldn’t tell by the name, I’m a bit of a Star Wars fan. For a long time now, I’ve had an idea that I just wanted to get out into the world. It’s the first article on the site, about how the sequel trilogy deserves a proper animated series of its own. Yes, I’m passionate enough about that to make a blog out of it.

Sure, I could’ve posted my thoughts on a Wix site or Medium, even social media if I used it. But having something that was purely mine sounded like a bit more fun. And for years, I’ve had a name and a brand in my head waiting to get put into action.

So I got to work on building this site, and a few months later, here it is.

It makes complete sense, too. I got my start as a copy editor in college, and writing, whether an email or a sports blog, is something I just love to do. I had let the passion go for too long.

Some of those sports I used to cover may appear on here, a bit of music, plenty of television. But at the planetary core, to remain on brand, will be movies.

This will be a place to break down new releases — yes, I’m a devout AMC A-Lister, one of those people — look back at classics and forward to what’s ahead. Ultimately, I’m hoping to celebrate film and television, the people who make the magic happen and the incredibly significant role it plays within our culture.

That being said, this isn’t going to be one dimensional. We’re not going to be limited to JUST movies, or JUST television. We’re in a galaxy of unlimited possibilities, and if there’s a story in my head or out in the world that needs to be told, this is the place to do it.

All that’s to say, let’s see what happens. I love the idea of The Outer Rim because it’s that faraway place in the galaxy where no one wants to visit but all the action goes down. We’re kind of going to do the same thing here. We’re small, uninhabited, but full of stories waiting to be told. I hope you’ll come along for the ride.
